Who we are
The project behind the development of the world’s first anatomically precise, 3D-printed eyelid was initiated by Marko Konschake – a researcher and medical innovator at the Medical University Hospital Innsbruck. In close collaboration with the MedTech company eyecre.at, technology partners Addion and med-lab, and with significant support from Stratasys and funding from the Province of Tyrol, a unique simulation model was created that sets new standards in education, research, and surgical practice.
Together, we combine medical expertise, technological innovation, and design sensitivity – with the goal of making medical training models more realistic, accessible, and future-oriented.
LidSUMMIT Tirol 2025
The LidSUMMIT Tirol is an intensive, interdisciplinary training course in reconstructive and aesthetic eyelid surgery, hosted by the Medical University of Innsbruck. Over three days, participants from across the DACH region are guided through advanced techniques such as blepharoplasty, tumor excision, and flap reconstruction – combining theoretical lectures, anatomical dissections, and hands-on simulation.
A key feature of the course is the use of our 3D-printed eyelid model, which allows procedures to be practiced under near-realistic conditions. The model enables reproducible and safe training of complex surgical steps, independent of cadaver availability. The success of the first LidSUMMIT in March 2025 has confirmed the model’s value – and inspired its broader use in surgical education.
